Noel Fielding: I wouldn't mind looking this cool getting me Tesco shoppin!

[H]ouse is back

Season 7 I mean. Now I know summer really is over. That and we never really had a summer in the first place. Anyway bygones be bygones, 'cause [H]ouse premieres on Monday! Which means I won't get to see it until Tuesday. But hurrah!
I'm always a little suspicious of people who don't watch House. Even more so of people who have watched it and don't like it. Even MORE so of people who have never heard of it. But natural selection will surely take care of this last category so one needn't worry.
All other TV shows I watch (Grey's Anatomy, Glee, Scrubs, Nurse Jackie (medical theme emerging), Will & Grace, QI, Desperate Housewives, That 70's Show, Skins, Miami Ink...) basically have nothing on House.
Nuff said.

My DVD arrived! The Comic Strip Presents - The Complete Collection. All 39 episodes plus bonus disc featuring never before seen extras! That's not me talking. That's the description on the boxset. Gotta love 80s comedy.

Scott Pilgrim vs the World

Just been to see this in el cine (ridiculously late considering it came out in mid August in the US.) Howevs, I thought it was totally original, laugh out loud funny, quirky, bizarre and just plain worth seeing. I love Michael Cera. Some say he always plays the same character. To those people I say look closer, idiot.

I heart vintage posters

Yeasayer

Check out this amazing video for Yeasayer's 'Ambling Alp'. Fell in love with this song a few months ago and it's still top of my current playlist. There's just so much going on in it. Methinks it's great:

Do All People in Ireland Have 'J' names?

So at the start of the year I went on Erasmus to Athens for 3 months. Me and my two friends James C and James M experienced a world of souvlaki, togas, ancient rocks, incomprehensible language, raki and of course ouzo.

I love the Greeks. Their motto is basically 'everything can wait till tomorrow'. They've made laziness and procrastination into an art form. Because coffee is so expensive in Greece (like 4.50), they sit in cafes for hours and really make a drink last. The Greeks are into coffee in a big way. And so am I. A Frappé was my typical fix:

It wasn't all fun and games though. We were also there to 'learn'. It was part of my uni course so we attended lectures (in English) and spent time on placements in various radiology departments. To prove it, here is a picture of a CT scanner I took:

Stephen Fry: The Fry Chronicles Live

Last Monday, I went with a friend to see Stephen Fry live at the Royal Festival Hall in London. That is to say we went to the nearest Irish cinema (Dundrum, Dublin) which was transmitting the live feed from London. By misfortune of my geographical roots, I live in Ireland so couldn't get to the live show. Lucky ducks who got to see him in the flesh. The transmission was beamed to 60 cinemas across Britain and some in Ireland.

I've been a fan of the Fry for about 2 years now. I think he's an unassuming superstar. Love his books, TV programmes, wit, humour, self-deprecation, and all around niceness. Plus he knows everything there is or ever was to know in the world ever.

The reason for this little experiment was in essence to promote his second autobiography 'The Fry Chronicles'. I  enjoyed the first volume 'Moab is my Washpot' muchly. It covered his life from early childhood to his arrival in Cambridge University where he is to meet Hugh (the god) Laurie and Emma Thompson. This is where I start to get really intrigued as I'm a huge fan of Hugh and Emma also.

Anyway the show was a real joy for Fry fans. Aside from a smidge of technical difficulties at the beginning. There was audible frustration and disbelief from the audience as the letters 'bad transmission' appeared on the screen every 3-4 seconds. But it calmed down thank god.

He spoke of his addiction to sweets, and reminisced about times in Cambridge with Hugh, Emma and Ben Elton. He was on for 90 minutes. I wish it was longer....

It’s an evening that has been all too short for me, and all too long, I suspect for you,” he concluded.

Loveliness.

La Música Folk

My music taste has been swaying towards folk recently. I'm usually an indie/alternative rock typa gal but can't get enough of the Fleet Foxes and Laura Marling.

Who doesn't love a hairy band?

London Calling.

I was a bit obsessed with the Tube.

Waiting for Greek friend Christos in Soho Square. Drinks later in the Hercules pub on Greek Street. Ha.

Christ

I saw this the other day and laughed my tush off. God love her. Has she been to school?
Thing is, she'll probably be happier than ever I will. She'll smile and wave at things as they whoosh over her head. Like Jedward.
