New everything...

My life is completely different to how it was a week ago. I started a new job in a new city and moved into a new house all in the space of about 3 days. That's a lot of new for a person who isn't all that comfortable with new. The house is nice, in a nice quiet area near all modes of public transport. Close enough to the city centre and just a short commute to work. I've met one of my two new housemates. He's a chef from Romania. Nice enough guy. The other girl is moving in next week.

I survived the first week of my new job (just) and am left with mixed feelings. There is a LOT more expected of me in this job than my last. I'm doing things I haven't done since college, and while this is only a good thing in terms of getting good experience, I feel clueless most of the time and it's stressing me out! On top of this, there's the whole first impressions thing- getting to know new colleagues and all that 'but do they like me?' crap.

I just need to remind myself that it'll get better. I'll get used to it. Everything will fall into place. Right?

Easier said than done, though.

Day 26- what you think about your friends?

My friends are the pink icing on an otherwise quite boring sponge cake. They are the turkey in my club, the orange jelly in my Jaffa cake......... Old friends, new friends, friends in other countries that I've only met a handful of times but still consider good friends, childhood friends I've grown apart from and hope to get back one day.....A shockingly cool group of people. Each one different and unique but all united under an umbrella of awesomeness.
I'm fairly easy-going but it takes a while for me to become good friends with people. So the chums I have now, I really cherish.
They say you are who your friends are. I'm very very OK with that.  :)

Things are going to be different now....

New job starts in a week. Don't have anywhere to live yet which is a little unsettling but things will fall into place. This job is the first good thing that's happened to me in months. I've been on such a downer since graduation, hearing about all my friends getting jobs and buying cars....And I was stuck at home working 2 days a week. But enough of all that crap.

For the first time in my life, I'll be making decent money (the money is better because I'm a locum). About bloody time too! Didn't go through 17 years of education to draw the dole. So that's all I wanted to say. Yay. :)

10 Things I Can't Live Without

1. Computer- technology happily replaces the absence of organised religion in my life.
2. Internet connection - (duh).
3. iPod - them tunes is sick yo.
4. Phone (A texter not a talker. Don't call me. Ever. Also, it's both my watch and my alarm.)

6. Friends - they are truly the cat's pyjamas.

Shitstickles!

I'm so pissed off! I'm trying to register to work as a radiographer in the UK and just found out it can take up to 3/4 months for the application to be processed. Jesus. That's totally made my day. :(

Plus, on top of that, if I don't get some decent post-graduate work experience here soon, it will probably be very difficult for me to compete in an already highly competitive jobs market over there.

Ideally, I would love to work in London or Edinburgh. If all goes well that's where I'll be this time next year.

Thank you economy, you've fucked me over once again.

I've watched a good few episodes of Inside the Actors Studio on YouTube. At the end of every interview, the presenter asks a kind of personality questionnaire invented by Bernard Pivot. It's quite interesting hearing people's answers. Here are the 10 questions with my answers:

Boredom strikes

Things I know

I haven't actually written much on this blog so far. I'm more the visual type so I automatically prefer pictures to text. But anyhooo....I thought I should write something. Because that's the point no?
I've often heard writers say you should write about 'what you know'. Well, I'm fairly certain that 'what I know' is unlikely to inspire or even interest much. But then again, I find it hard to care. So here it goes.

I know:

- How to take and interpret x-rays.
- How to make ass-kicking pancakes.
- A lot about comedy.
- How to draw cartoons.
- How to annoy my twin.
- What I'm having for dinner later.
- How to shoot and score free throws in basketball.
- How to navigate the subway systems of New York, London and Athens.
- How to avoid a fist fight.
- How to detect insincerity.
- How to edit videos.
- How to be a total slob and a neat-freak.
- How to switch efficiently from one to the other.
- That God doesn't exist.
- When to shut up.

Testing....1,2....

Testing....a one, a two, a one, two, three, four-

Hi there. My name is Joanne. Not Jo, or for love of Jesus not Jojo. Cheers. ;)

If you're here by accident, the bouncer will show you out. We'll say nothing more about it.

If you mean to be here, I must question your morals but I welcome you nonetheless.
